Everyone has heard of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. But what about close encounters of the fatal kind? The field of UFOs is rife with unsettling examples of suspicious deaths. Accounts of accidents that might not have been accidents after all, abound. Researchers and witnesses have vanished, never to be seen again. Conveniently timed heart attacks are reported.
Out-of-the-blue suicides that, upon investigation, bear the distinct hallmarks of murder, are all too common. And grisly deaths at the hands of both extraterrestrials and government agents have occurred. Highlights of Close Encounters of the Fatal Kind include
- The strange saga of the incredible melting man.
- The UFO-related death of the first US Secretary of Defense, James Forrestal.
- The mysterious disappearances of military pilots and their connection to UFOs.
Getting too close to the cosmic truth about alien abductions, Roswell, and what the government really knows about UFOs can - clearly - be a deadly business. The government's latest admission of the existence of Area 51 is barely the tip of a very big iceberg.

Close Encounters of the Fatal Kind Suspicious Deaths Mysterious Murders and Bizarre Disappearances in UFO History (Audible Audio Edition) Nick Redfern Shaun Grindell Tantor Audio Books Reviews
I learned a lot that I had not heard before. The operative word or words are, "Not heard before". This does not mean that these things are true. For that matter doesn't mean they are not true. Some things sounded extraordinary where they are difficult to believe. I feel compelled to sight specific examples then explain my thoughts but I don't want to ruin the book for those who have not read it yet. Better for each person to draw there own conclusions. I will say the book keeps you and absorbed and is thought provoking. If the things written in the book are indeed true then it's a rather frightening book. One thing I will reveal is this. The author speaks of researchers and other authors as well as people in government or government contractors as being silenced by foul play. My question is, with all the revealing information in this book, has this author ever felt threatened ? Why have we not seen threats against well known people like Bob Lazar ? Overall the book will hold your interest and keep you coming back for more.
After reading the book itself, I reviewed the comments made by other readers. Quite a few found this book was not what they expected, and I think I understand. For myself, someone who has followed UFOs for sixty years, it was exactly what I expected. I know of no outright attacks by UFOs, and so a review of "related" deaths seems logical. And, in truth, those who actively follow UFOs do tend to die in peculiar ways. The overall impression I get from Redfern's book is that most of these deaths were likely the result of our own government's actions. That is almost a scary as a UFO attack! I agree that most of the situations covered are well known already, but it is the aggregate which makes one shiver during a late night read. The message is clear we have more to worry about than alien craft in our skies.
It's a good ol' Nick Redfern book. Written in his usual style that you would come to expect. Lots of material in here that you may not have heard from anyone else. Add this to your library, it's a good one
Covers some well-known incidents that proved fatal on occasion. The author provides details I didn't know about. He sticks to the facts he can glean from newspaper accounts, government sources without conjecture about the source or sources of the phenomena. Its about time for speculation, isn't it? A good read, nevertheless, if you like the paranormal.
This book hit a little too close to home. I have read over 4000 UFO books so this book fascinated me. I am a ufo believer 100% and reading this, it appears they drop like flies. I love Nick Redfern's writing style. Those unfamiliar with ufo history will learn about all the weird goings on that happens to ufo researchers. If your a seasoned ufologist, stay in on June 24. This book is destined to be a classic that can be handed to anyone interested in studying ufology. Think twice! (Ps I bought all my ufo books using cash growing up) I knew my ufology history at a young age. (Jessup)
My husband really enjoyed this book. The descriptions that we read led us to believe this was a source of scary UFO stories and that is certainly not the case. However, it was a nice collection that brought up some interesting questions.
I REALLY enjoyed this book! Very well written and very easy to follow. I say that because I read another book recently that dealt with some of the cases Mr. Redfern covered and I just could not stay with the book. It was just a confusing jumble of information. But this book was clear and concise and laid out the details and facts in a way that kept me reading. I was already familiar with many of the cases covered, but learned new information and other theories. There were some typos which seems to be more and more common today but that didn't take away from what appears to be a well researched book.
